Just how fresh is this team? They started out in 2022, yes they’re practically brand new in the minor hockey league and the Savannah Ghost Pirates have announced their affiliation with NHL’s Florida Thunders! ORIGIN

In 2021, the majority owner of the ECHL’s Jacksonville Icemen, Andy Kaufmann, came to an agreement with the city of Savannah, Georgia for an expansion. The Savannah Ghost Pirates were then created in 2022 in which the roster would make the Enmarket Arena its home starting 2022 to 2023 ECHL season. Placed in the south division along with the Greenvill Swamp Rabbits, the Jacksonville Icemen, Orlando Solar Bears, and more, the Savannah Ghost Pirates have a very promising start in its first year. 

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE TEAM

With each season, Savannah Ghost Pirates’ standing became better and better. With a strong team behind development and with rising star coach, Jared Staal, who has done amazing work as assistant coach to a professional hockey team within the AHL. Since debuting in 2022 to 2023, the Savannah Ghost Pirates have risen in ranks. Although they haven’t qualified to the playoffs just yet, the season standings have increased with each year. In 2023 to 2023, the team landed at number 6th standing. The next season, they placed fifth. In the recent 2025 to 2026 season, Savannah Ghost Pirates placed 4th on their final standing, a massive jump from their initial last standing. In just four short years, the team has proven that they are a force to be reckoned with. We are seeing so many exciting things from this brand new team.

Snacks and drinks – what’s a hockey game without some grub?! Well, that won’t happen at the Enmarket Arena! On gameday, there will be a wide variety of food and drink concessionaires present. Fans will have plenty of options like pizza, chili cheese, chicken wings, loaded crab fries, and funnel cakes. There will be some great offerings on drinks as well. ABOUT THE VENUE

The Enmarket Arena opened in the same year that the Savannah Ghost Pirates were launched. In 2022, the multi-purpose arena opened its doors to the minor hockey league as Savannah Ghost Pirates beat the Greenvile Swamp Rabbits in a 5-1 victory. The venue can accommodate 7,485 during hockey events but it also allows for various configurations to host other types of events inclluding concerts. The venue was designed with fan experience in mind. There’s terrific accomodations with great sightlines. The climate controlled venue also offers amazing ambiance and outstanding acoustics. There’s cutting edge technology in lighting, visual, and sound equipment. Meanwhile, accessibility is also great. Visitors can also watch out for the grand lobby which is lit by natural light thanks to its glass front facade.
